We know already the dangers of giving hormones in "benign" circumstances. (Think the use of estrogen in post-menopausal women about 10 or 15 years ago. This significantly upped the risk of a certain kind of breast cancer and is no longer recommended.) It is common sense to expect that cross-sex hormone use, especially long-term, will result in serious health consequences. Almost every cell in the human body is a sex cell, in that it is imbedded with either an XX or XY chromosome. The human body will resist the bombardment of such cross sex hormones, and will continue to try to regulate itself in the way that it is supposed to. Endocrinologists know this full well.
