The mainstream media and the case of the missing terven

I don’t particularly like the phrase “mainstream media.” It’s hard for me to use it without hearing Sarah Palin in the back of my mind, trashing what she used to refer to as the “lamestream media.” I also think a solid case can be made that the so-called “mainstream media” is no longer mainstream, as Americans increasingly do not trust it. Nonetheless, I’ll use the phrase here because readers will all know what I’m referring to.
On July 3, the New York Times ran an opinion piece making the case that misogyny on the political left is erasing women and describing so-called “TERFs.” I wrote about that here. The next day, Bette Midler and Macy Gray each made statements that were widely viewed as “TERFy.” I wrote about it all here. Both of those pieces are public and shareable.
Several mainstream media pieces have come out in the days since, criticizing TERFs. Strangely missing from the entire conversation, though, are the voices of, well, TERFs.
