In boldface and capital letters: "The rights of women and girls are not a partisan issue."
There is nothing that warms my heart more than seeing women work together "across the aisle" on this foundational issue. What aisle? Kara and May are sisters.
We can't afford to hate each other because I voted for Tweedle-Dee and you voted for Tweedle-Dum.
If there were one thing I could obliterate with my imaginary witch's wand, it would be partisan politics, with its special interests, schemes, prejudices, lying, myth-making, heroes, and villains.
Sure, there are different world views, but isn't that the nature of humanity? That's why we need democracy and free speech.
This is excellent though I still think the word, sex should have been defined, as the word, sex has two meanings. Sex means a reproductive state, and sex means fornicating. You have a sex, you have sex. There is still the assumption that the college miseducated wokes and democrats know the meaning of the word, sex and can rattle it off as meaning a reproductive state. They cannot. The word, gender is only used by us normies to mean the reproductive state one is born into, male or female. That's why the words sex and gender are interchanged. That's why we have gender reveal parties instead of sex reveal parties for babies, as those words could have two different connotations, especially in these P. Diddy days
Also democrats and "trans" activists have used the word, sex as in fornicating, to mean, love. Love is love, and love has no age, when the only thing that makes one a heterosexual or a homosexual or a bisexual, is who one wants to have sexual encounters with. We've always had same sex love, mothers love daughters, brothers loves brothers, friends love friends. This misuse of language is just another way democrats and "trans" activists sexualized children.
Male and female should also be defined as reproductive states/sexes determined by visible sexed organs at birth, and/or XX or XY chromosomes determined by DNA apparent in blood or Of the 36 samples. Democrats and "trans" activists try to bully by using garbage arguments such as, what if a woman cannot get pregnant, or cannot produce ova, is she still a woman? Also "intersex" should be defined as a birth defect. Democrats and "trans" activists have use "intersex" as an argument for a third sex or sex on a spectrum. Democrats and "trans" activists also use the "genital examination" argument when a simple saliva test will do. No person born with an intersex condition produces a third kind of gamete. Gamete also needs to be defined as a reproductive cell.
I say all this as I have stumped every single person I have ask to define what a woman or man is, or why a man or woman is, and to define a gamete. And I only have a frickin' high school education from the '70's! lol. EDITED for misspellings, lol.
YES, sex and love are NOT synonymous or identical, but sometimes coincidental. Trans conflate the two to justify pedophilia and to ennoble their sexual fetishes
We can't let them get away with this lying linguistic slight-of- hand.
The EO is such a well-informed and well-reasoned document it was clear that a keen intelligence was behind it. I only hope that Mailman and others in the administration who are charged with carrying out its precepts are free to execute this mandate fully. And, yup, I love, love, love this shout-out to you, Kara: “When I asked her what inspired her to write the order, she said, ‘Too many people use language uncritically and it has resulted in the erasure of women. This is what Independent Women and feminist partners have been telling state legislatures for a few years now. Also, Kara’s amicus brief explaining that ‘transgender’ as a category is so absurdly flimsy as to sweep in every human on earth, is totally persuasive and everyone should memorize it.’” And I say amen!
I am SO grateful for your work! And I could also sense your influence in Trump's EO. It echoes the wording in the WDI's amicus brief in the Skrmetti case, which you authored.
"played a significant role in authoring"??? do you mean she was the author of the EO or only partly? this is one of the finest bits of writing I have ever read on a political subject.
The conservative branch of TERF feminism began, if I'm remembering correctly, with the sports issue. The first such org was Save Women's Sports, founded by competitive powerlifter Beth Stelzer in C. 2020. I believe Stelzer was apolitical, but her organizing efforts inspired activism among female athletes in general, who tend to be more conservative, e.g., Riley Gaines and Paula Scanlon, representatives of Independent Women's Forum. (The organization that Mailman works with.)
Independent Women's Forum also produces excellent documentaries on the prison issue.
There's also a subsidiary, Independent Women's Network, which does TERF political organizing and advocates for conservative causes. I'm not involved with either organization, but Maud Maron, a progressive activist in New York City who participated with Kara Dansky on a panel discussion during the recent WDI conference, works with them.
There is clearly cross-party-lines activism going on, which is fantastic.
They are against domestic violence legislation because women are just portraying themselves as victims to hurt men. They say that campus sexual assault is not a problem, that coeds are falsely accusing male students over trivial misunderstandings and destroying men's lives, and so forth. Accused rapists are being denied due process.
While there are certain issues we can agree, like men aren't women, we must be careful not to merge our identity with people who ultimately see women's role as subservient to men, and who see feminists as whining, scheming opportunists looking to take advantage of men by pretending to be treated unfairly or oppressed.
Well, I certainly don’t agree with all, or any of that. However, unfortunately the Left has refused to speak out on this issue in support of women and girls. The conservatives are the only ones doing so. The Democratic Party elites and the media are too scared or too siloed it seems, to give up on this ideology. But the vast majority of Americans, regardless of party, do not agree with its excesses, particularly in the areas of women’s sports and protected spaces, and the medical and surgical transition of minors.

We are family, I want all my sisters with me.
What you’ve written here is utterly lovely. Thank you.
Thank you Kara for honoring May! The language in the EO is amazing!!!

Brava May! 👏

She’s magnificent. A toast to May Mailman and all the women who made this possible!
"played a significant role in authoring"??? do you mean she was the author of the EO or only partly? this is one of the finest bits of writing I have ever read on a political subject.
She wrote it, but others were involved. She approved the language I used.
I saw some of Megyn Kelly’s show recently and she credited May and said Stephen Miller helped with edits.
Is it much more than erasing women? I wonder why no one is discussing this movement? Read and weep:

I’d like to find out more about her organization. Apparently it’s conservative? That’s so interesting.

Don't forget that some are on the left like Martina Navratilova
All this is great, women’s issues should not be partisan issues (at least not all of them), but please use the term TERF, it’s become a slur.
Kara Dansky's Substack is called The TERF Report for a reason. The trans activists created it to demean us. We have reclaimed it.
But use it or not, as you see fit.
Oh, right, duh! How could I be so dumb! I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.
Independent Women's Forum was created to support Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas's appointment. They see him as a victim of rancorous feminists.

They believe that there's no pay gap between men and women, that women just work less at easier jobs.

Hey- did Trump just take down a government website which informed people about birth control?
Hail May (and that stylin’ Burberry belt)!
Another HERO
SHERO! Nice to see women who are not pandering coo coos rising up the ladder. It feels good.
I would have liked SEX to be used instead of gender.
