Kara (et al) thanks for sharing Jennifer Gingrich's X post, and here is a copy of our Boston Globe

Letter to the Editor today! I did post this on my personal Fb page, too. The archived copy has links to data. After members of NEWS met last month with handlers of Sen. Collins and Rep. Golden, yesterday then both stated that Gov. Mills made a mistake not protecting female sports. (Even Golden - a Democrat!) Things are changing as we've tried to get LtEs in the Globe several times before.

Trans athletes tear at women’s rights

Updated February 28, 2025, 1 hour ago

Re “ ‘Enjoy your life after governor’: Trump and Maine’s governor spar at the White House over transgender athletes” (BostonGlobe.com, Feb. 21):

It’s unfortunate that a fact of human biology so basic that everyone knew it ages ago — men are faster and stronger than women — has come to be seen as a politically partisan belief in our increasingly divided American culture.

President Trump and Janet Mills, governor of Maine, squaring off over the issue of single-sex sports has once again made it appear that this is a right vs. left issue. In fact, polls have repeatedly shown that the majority of Americans surveyed, including most Democrats, oppose athletes who were male at birth but who identify as female competing in female sports.

Male anatomy generally comes with significant physical advantages, such as larger hearts and lungs, more fast-twitch muscle fibers, and denser bones and proportionally longer limbs. Studies show that these advantages are only minimally reduced by cross-sex hormones.

As feminists, we support Title IX and the right of female athletes to single-sex sports for both fairness and safety. It is not the responsibility of girls to sacrifice their opportunities and honors to benefit another group, and we caution Democrats to resist being drawn into opposing women’s rights out of a desire to stand against the current administration.

I was just coming here to post the link!

I think everyone should be aware that the Boston Globe demanded Jennifer change some of her wording to avoid offending the male athletes in female sports.

According to Jennifer:

They added the word "generally" in "male anatomy generally comes with significant physical advantages" and changed "these advantages can't be reduced by cross-sex hormones" to "these advantages are only minimally reduced by cross-sex hormone".

They wanted to change "male athletes" to "transgender female athletes." I refused. The best I could get them to agree on and still publish us was "athletes who were male at birth but identify as female".

Thanks for the sharing the drama of word-smithing that shows how the issue is so sensitive and politically loaded! I'd suggested "trans-identifying males", but Jennifer said the Globe had already rejected that option, too, but settled on the awkward "athletes who were male at birth but identify as female." Still, progress!

Yes.

God forbid we use factual, science-based language to describe a factual, science-based situation.

Boston--which was once a leader in women's suffrage--is now a bastion of men's rights. In fact, the Boston Fine Arts Museum has a gigantic three-foot sign in front of the main women's bathroom explaining that men are also welcome to use it.

I hope some enterprising young women wrestle that damn sign into a stall & lock it in there.

The weasel word "generally" jumped out at me as I read the quote. Now I understand why. Thanks.

exactly weasel-y. :-)

Right?

And she had to fight to keep them from calling males "females."

Women just cannot win. From the Left. men in our sports and prisons! From the Right, the Tate bros. arrived. My feeling of being politically homeless almost makes me ill. How did women become so overlooked in every way by both parties?

We committed the grave sin of starting to matter, that is how. In doing so we triggered a backlash that is only truly shocking when you look at all the women, girls, and let’s just blanket label the rest as progressives. That is the shocking part.

Thank you, Kara, for honoring Rep. Libby and Julia Dietrich!

Seeing yet another high school girl having to give a speech like this makes me both sad and angry- where in the hell were and are the adults in the room who should have protected girls’ rights and never let things get to this point?

So, every time I start to feel sick and twisted up about Herr Trump sitting back in office making those over the top stupid facial expressions where he looks like a right lunatic, something like this happens and I think “ya know, maybe that is what it takes to fight crazy, more crazy.”

I guess as a political strategy it has it’s upside.

I still think another “fight fire with fire” angle that no one has tried yet is that women could just walk into all men’s spaces, do and say whatever we damn well please as we stare at their junk and snicker to one another, and we would see men starting to take more of an interest.

I mean, men supporting this has it’s obvious angle. And we know that women who identify as trans masculine meet the same fate as women who don’t, and also those same women are not allowed to be put in male prison facilities and as far as I know not one single trans male has been on a men’s team.

So the men have lost nothing.

But what if they did lose something?

All they ever seem to care about is having power over women and other men, and they use their dick size as a constant reference.

I’ve always said, mocking them on their own turf would come as a shock. Just put on man face (penciled in mustaches) and pack our trousers with big fake junk and go strolling as groups into every men’s room and locker and anywhere men hold court, openly staring at them in their own vulnerable state, and laughing in those ugly laughs of mockery men excel at.

And also, legally identifying as women identifying as men identifying as women identifying as men. What? Yeah, exactly.

Cuz, fuck them.

Thank you, Kara, once again for honoring a woman who stands up for women—and actually in this case, several, including Jennifer and the people of NEWS, and the brilliant statement by Julia Dietrich. What is going on in Maine is yet another horror story, as what you’ve compiled in this piece shows so well. (As I am not on any social media except Substack, I particularly appreciate what you pass on from those sources.) Thanks again for this and for all you do.

Maine for men. Pain for women. Shame for all the adult human females especially who support this return to female humans being treated as the second sex.

I've never heard a coherent answer when questioning what "trans" or "gender identity" means. And, I've never heard a coherent answer as to why women are more triggered (TDS) by Trump's demeanor, yet are still not outraged enough to see the harm democrats do to women and act on it - by leaving! They are like the abused woman who says, well if I only can change this man for the better, he'll stop hitting me. Look at what democrats do to their own! Silenced and eventually run out of the party. And no, I did not become a republican. I went back to being an independent voter. No political party is my "home." I vote for whomever is going to do what I want. Trump did that. He is going full force against this "trans" insanity. He's slamming the door shut on human-traffickers. Anything, else, I do not care. Both Clinton and Biden were accused of rape, were war-mongers and hated the working class.

First term Trump supported a bill that passed the House, that would make abortion legal to the 19 week. After that, exceptions for rape and incest. 93% of all abortion happen in or before the 13 week. 6% happen between the 14-20th week. But no, democrats demand their sacred full-term-abortion-on-demand. So aborter dems spin it as: "Trumps bans abortion after 20 weeks!" Why isn't it more concerning that democrats enable rape thus abortion, by allowing men into enter every female-only space, then refuse to make abortion easily accessible by digging in their heels for highly unlikely full-term-abortion? Now aborter dems whine about turning abortion-rights over to the states. Why don't they spend their energy getting abortion on state ballots if that's their sacred issue? Why, because democrats are deranged. That's the only answer I can come up with.

Men don't get to decide when a woman can have an abortion.

Period.

Normal people come in male and female. And normal people think a pregnant female with a baby bump should not be able to abort the baby on-demand. Everything has limits, has boundaries. That's want sets normal people apart from democrats. Democrats, like cancer cells, demand no boundaries.

I looked up Rule 401, but part 11 is not what she broke - it's the provision they are using to not allow her to speak "11. Breach of rules. When any member is guilty of a breach of any of the rules and orders of the House and the House has determined that the member has violated a rule or order, that member may not be allowed to vote or speak, unless by way of excuse for the breach, until the member has made satisfaction." I still can't figure out which rule (from 1 - 10) that she broke.
