Thanks for reporting this Kara. I am not a lawyer, but this seems like an egregious trampling of a company’s first amendment rights. Hopefully it has a good shot if it goes to the Supreme Court. As for the politics, the fact that nearly every democrat in power has decided to die on this hill with no debate about the merits of gender zealotry is so short sighted. They have no good answers when you bring up facts about women’s safety in traditionally single sex spaces, particularly prisons. And the mainstream media seems to go out of its way to not cover this with any objectivity, the way they do on so many issues. Their actions say they don’t care if they lose liberal and independent women. Never thought I would hear myself saying this but I see voting Republican in protest in the next few election cycles unless things change. In the meantime I am going to go buy some XX-XY Gear to support Jennifer Sey.
Check out the actual complaint, too. Unlike most legal documents, it’s clear, succinct, almost poetic in its language. Cannot wait to see what happens with this case.
Ballsy move, as one would expect from Jennifer Sey. I 🙇♀️ to her and to all female gladiators.
Have you read the lawsuit? Am I understanding it correctly that it is an American corporation suing individuals employed by a state government agency who it alleges have the power to enforce laws but have not? A most interesting case to watch unfold.
I never thought you intended to be offensive. My point was that it was unfortunate that you used a word that referenced male anatomy to praise a woman for her courage, as if courage is more typically something displayed by men. As Robin Azzolllini points out below, there are synonyms that could be used, such as gutsy, that do not feed the sexist stereotype that courage is primarily something displayed by men. In fact, "courageous" would have been a great word to use instead of ballsy.
We all know what "ballsy" means. Gutsy would actually have been better because it does not evoke male anatomy and suggest that when a woman displays courage she is somehow behaving like men are supposed to behave.
While I can appreciate your opinion, hopefully you will appreciate that your display of sanctimony is not the way to go. Lecturing two grown adults on how you think we should speak on a subject, whom you don’t even know, doesn’t make you virtuous or correct. And in fact, I didn’t even respond to you, my response was to L Word. Your need to chastise both of us is a perfect illustration of the behavior that causes people to turn away from the Democratic Party.
(BTW, "Erin in the Morning" is a great read by a trans activist. Stunning levels of disinformation and sins of commission/omissions. But Erin Reed is highly lauded by trans groups.)
When will they stop using the insulting acronym LGBTQ+ and quit force teaming homosexuals with an undefined group of people? Under their guidance, we’ve seen a loss of lesbian and gay rights, continued and vicious attacks on any homosexual (especially women) or person who doesn’t believe in Gender Ideology and an attack on women’s hard won rights to safe spaces and fair play in sports. Having largely destroyed the good will built by generations of gay and lesbian activists before them, having turned so many against Pride (which is now anything but inclusive and runs for months on end), having desecrated the rainbow flag, now they take on the American eagle? Not that I’m American but, just saying, it’s beyond offensive, gawdy and really bad art. Like the sexist baby pink/pale blue trans progress flag I find it offensive to my gay eyes and sensibilities as an artist.
Not only did HRC put the American Eagle in a leather harness (associated with bondage and subservient kink sexual fetish), they emblazoned it with their logo and gave the Eagle a pink pedicure and pink and blue eyeshadow. I’ll run with they intentionally made the symbol of America into a cross dressing transvestite, male autogynephilic or “trans” woman.
It seems consistent with their past marketing campaigns where they (and GLAAD) print and sell offensive merchandise calling themselves the alphabet “mafia” and joke about making America gay again. Zero respect for heterosexuals, socially conservative or religious people or women and yet they demand respect. I want to 🤮 over what HRC and legacy gay and lesbian groups have turned in to.
As homosexuals we all should have been on our feet when they stopped representing us and advocating to maintain hard won gay rights, when they started “transing away the gays” (and appointed a straight parent of a “trans IDing” child to the HRC board) and when they stomped all over women’s rights. We have failed to collectively rise ….… thoughts on why?
To gay men I ask, what’s it going to take to get you to collectively rise and stand beside your lesbian sisters and women? We’ve been silenced, shamed, physically attacked in many cases, called far right TERF haters for saying men are not women and refusing to accept “ladydick” while male autogynephilics take over every women’s space.
The “threshold issue”, in my opinion, is we need to take a stand in decency and start showing respect to others if we have any hope in maintaining our hard won civil rights as homosexuals. Everyone’s civil rights come with a responsibility to treat others fairly and with respect. It is a cornerstone of our democracies. Equal rights does not mean anyone’s rights get to supersede the rights of another.
We were not afforded equal rights by what we consistently see from trans activists and their handmaidens - by shouting over others, by silencing their voices or by attacking them.
Anyone like me who was on the front lines fighting for equal rights for homosexuals knows this: many at the time called us sexual predators, paedophiles and worried about us harming children. I did not put my life and livelihood on the line to support what I see happening - the medicalization of vulnerable children and youth who have been sold a lie that sex is a construct and doesn’t matter and that humans can change sex; that lesbians should have to accept “ladydick” or be outcast; that boys who like pink and playing with dolls are really girls; or that women’s rights would fall. Neither did people like Fred Sargent and yet he was physically attacked in NYC at a Pride parade by trans activists and their supporters. Other older past gay rights activists who also put their lives on the line to get us to where we are have also been attacked and make no mistake - zero denouncing these vicious attacks by current leadership of legacy gay rights groups. In fact, the attacks often come from them. My vote is we burn the houses down we built when they become corrupt which I believe they now are.
I agree. Even worse, just stop saying LGBTQ+ (as HRC insists on doing) or any twisted variation of the alphabet soup. We are not a monolith and it’s as offensive as using BAME to lump all ethnic minorities together as if they are one “community” with shared concerns and histories. No one knows what “Queer” means or who is included in “+”. One thing is certain: heterosexual male autogynephilics are now in calling themselves “lesbians” and the MAP crowd (minor attracted person … but let’s not be polite and call them what they are: paedophiles and sexual predators) continues to make a play for inclusion and to claim victimhood. Their entry into the alleged “rainbow” family ought to be enough to get homos to collectively rise and say get the LGB the fuck out of the acronym.
As always, thank you Kara for illuminating not only all of these absolutely maddening injustices, but also for shining a light on Warrior Women like Jennifer Sey. You are both inspiring to me and my work as an artist. March On! (reposting because I don't think my post went through- sorry if repeat)

Ballsy move? Why praise a courageous woman by referring to male anatomy? Please think about that.
I have thought about it. No offence intended.

Ballsy in this case is just a synonym for gutsy. I got you! 😉

Is that eagle wearing . . . A leather harness?
May be the ugliest bit of propaganda I’ve ever seen; perhaps when gay men are affiliated with something so hideous, something might change?

As a threshold issue, the media and organizations need to stop saying “LGBT Community”.
