I just wrote to my 2 Democratic senators. I also sent an email to 5 calls, expressing my disgust that they call this bill discrimination against trans people.
I put in my calls, but I have Ed Markey and Liz Warren so probably can’t count on them. I did lay it on thick about how I know they want to help to elevate girls and women and that we need kind and strong leadership to walk this topic back so we can start finding a fair and just way for ward that works for everyone, especially if we want to re-build and fortify the democratic party and reclaim voters.
I told my 2 democratic senators that I turned in my dem card due to this issue and have no political home. I also linked the most recent findings of the American College of Sports Medicine. I bet they dont even ready it.
They may not, but they are foolish not to. It’s great that you sent it! I think the only thing people can do is keep inundating them with fact based current information.
I called both of my New York senators last week with my message -- not the first time they've heard it from me -- that they will never have my vote until they turn this thing around. I expect no change from either Schumer or Gillibrand, but it has to be said.
Thank you for providing the phone list Kara. For what it is worth, I called both Senators Gillibrand and Schumer’s offices leaving messages for them to vote yes and that as a constituent I will be watching. I made it very clear that I consider this the Women’s Rights issue of our time. You have brought me around to the position that we have to stop being “nice” with our words. I made it very clear that I will never vote for a single democrat again if they continue to support the very dangerous and ignorant trans ideology currently being platformed by The Democratic Party Apparatus.
Brava Kara! You are the best of the US Left. Sall is my local shero and a former Hollywood scriptwriter. If the Dems won't be moved because they are in too deep and still figure their trans backers' money is their best bet against that other troublesome T then I think this whole nightmare would make an excellent tragicomic TV series, with you, Sall and JK as the TERF equivalent of Charlies Angels. You could call it 'Charlie's activists' and 'Charlie' could be Julie Bindel and Alison Bailey, and you're all fighting for women and vulnerable children against all the nasty misogynist trans bullies and allies letting rapists into women's prisons, cutting off girls breasts, the brazen liars in the media and government, etc. It'd be easier if the seven Dems just supported the fair sports Act as the majority almost certainly want to do, but I can't help feeling they would have done that already if they weren't convinced Trump et al is the greater evil. I hope I'm wrong. XX
I hate to be a broken record but Dems will never support women and girls rights. You can dream all you want but time to flip and get 60 Rep Senators to make women rights law. Next time Dems in control of President and House women are out! Wake up, how much proof do you need.

I guess we will see how this goes.

Thank you so much for the call to action, Kara. I have restacked. Thank you again for staying on this beat—and never missing a beat.

Agreed on both points!

lol I love this.
I have written both of my senators from Maryland urging them to vote yes. I highly doubt they will.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Kara!!!
All Democrats (who were there) voted NO on S.9.
Slotkin (MI) and Welch (VT) were absent.
