Where we are in the movement to protect the sex-based rights of women and girls and to stop the abolition of sex in the U.S.
September 23, 2025
I spent this past weekend in Indianapolis for the fourth annual convention of Women’s Declaration International USA (WDI USA), titled “Growing the Women’s Liberation Movement.” It was a great time, and I would encourage women to attend future WDI USA conventions if you can make it.
I am often asked where we are in the movement to protect the sex-based rights of women and girls and to stop the abolition of sex, and when we’re going to win it. Over the past year, I’ve done a lot of thinking and analysis of that question and I have some thoughts. What follows is the text of a talk I gave at the convention on the topic. I gave a version of this talk in Canada in March, at the annual conference of the group Canadian Women’s Sex-Based Rights (caWsbar). I gave an updated version in July, for Women’s Declaration International (the global organization).
Read on in you want to know where I think we are in the movement (and why).
Later, I’ll post a separate talk I gave during a panel on the topic “Abortion: Where Have We Been & Where Do We Go From Here?”
