Radical feminists often talk about the concept of “reversals.” Here is the late Mary Daly on the topic:

But you see, radical women always have ‘bad press’. Why wouldn’t you have bad press if you’re attacking, undermining the prevailing order? This brings up a very important subject which is the idea of reversals. We live in a reversal society. For example, the idea that Eve came from Adam is a reversal. It’s ridiculous. Who could believe that? It’s contrary to all biology. But with that myth in mind, people can justify somehow the idea that God is male. And therefore that male is God. And that he’s the origin. But he’s not the origin. The Bible is full of reversals. There are reversals everywhere. Orwell thought that when he wrote in 1984 about Doublethink. You know, the Ministry of Truth was where they made up lies, the Ministry of Love was where they tortured people. Everywhere you go there is Doublethink. There’s ‘natural’ make-up that of course is unnatural.

I’m not trying to argue about religion here. Many subscribers to this Substack are faithful adherents to one religion or another, and I’m not here to argue about that. There’s also a bit more to that quote that I didn’t include here, because it touches on a contentious topic I try to avoid in these pages, and I don’t want anyone to argue about that either. Remember, this is a radical feminist being quoted. If you disagree with her about religion, that’s totally fine. But that’s not the point of this post.

The point of this post is the topic of reversals. And, in particular, the “trans” suicide reversal. We are often told that if young people do not have access to so-called “gender-affirming care,” then they will commit suicide. It’s not true, which ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio acknowledged before the Supreme Court during oral arguments in the matter of United States v. Skrmetti last December.

But the “young people will kill themselves if they don’t have access to this life-saving treatment” claim is more than false. It’s a reversal, because in fact the opposite is true: people who are confused about their sex are more likely to commit suicide if they do receive hormones and surgery than if they don’t. It’s horrible.

The tragic suicide of Ava/David Hudson is perhaps one example. Read on if you’d like to learn more.
