"Share your story with the New York Times, really"
The NTY Daily podcast wants to hear from those affected by "gender affirming care"
May 27, 2025
The group Parents with Inconvenient Truths About Trans (PITT) posted this earlier this morning, and you can find the original here. I’m sharing the post with permission.
If you are a parent of a kid who has taken puberty-blockers or opposite-sex hormones, or a young person who has done so yourself, please weigh in.
I don’t read every story I get from PITT, but I read most of them. They are such an important voice. Please follow them if you don’t already. And they have published two books!
This post is free and shareable. A paid subscription to my Substack gets you regular access to much more content and the ability to comment and engage in conversation with other thoughtful people about all things “trans” and “gender identity.”
Have you read or heard mainstream media stories about trans-identified children, young adults or families with one and thought you would lose your mind over the misrepresentation and, sometimes, outright falsehoods presented? This is your chance to speak up. There might be a deadline so do this right away.
The staff at the New York Times Daily podcast recently put out this request:
“In the past couple of years, nearly half the states in the US have passed bans on gender-affirming care for kids. The Trump administration is now targeting that care. And in the coming weeks, the Supreme Court is expected to weigh in. Amidst all of that, some of our colleagues here on “The Times” audio team have been working on a project about where this care came from, who it was meant to help, and how it got pulled into a political fight that could end it altogether. The team making that show is looking to hear from kids and parents about their direct experience with gender-affirming care. If that’s you, what has your experience been with pediatric gender medicine? How have recent government actions affected you? And how are you feeling about the future? If you’re willing to share your story, please send us a short voice memo to
http://genderstory@nytimes.com
PITT editors realize you may have further questions. Here is what we don’t know:
Is there a deadline for submission?
Must it be a voice memo?
Might they play your voice memo on the show?
Are they interested in stories related solely to pediatric gender medicine?
PITT readers - now is the time to share your story. Be brief. Remember it’s voice memos only and they have requested “short”. Think about the key points you’d like to make and practice before hand. Even if this podcast addresses only care for minors, if they are overwhelmed with stories of harm to young adults, perhaps they will reconsider and widen their scope. Based on their previous coverage of this topic and their reference to “gender affirming care”, we know where the Times stands on this issue - firmly in the pro trans-ideology camp. Share your experience with school, doctors, therapists, etc. Tell them what “gender affirming care” has done to your child.
I shared our story and doubt it will see the light of day. Our daughter is showing signs of desistance.
I think we should rename it as gender-denying care because that’s what it really is. It reflects the tremendous fear of girl children about becoming women.
