Safety first?

Yesterday I published this piece (which is free and shareable) about a December 5 action that took place at the René C. Davidson courthouse in Oakland California. The purpose of that action was to stand in solidarity with incarcerated women and against the housing of men in women’s prisons. The action was prompted by the conviction of Dana Rivers (a man who claims to be a woman) of three counts of murder in the first degree for murdering a lesbian couple of their son, and one count of arson for setting fire to their home.
Previously, I had tweeted this thread about taking an egg to the head during that action.
All of this has prompted a very interesting discussion online about this question: Is women’s safety the top priority in the fight to protect the sex-based rights of women and girls?
