Republicans, and Trump’s executive orders, are not going to save us
FAU v. Ellison
April 16, 2026
This post is about a Wednesday decision out of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit against female athletes and in favor of the state of Minnesota.
But first …
Watch Alex Stein engage with a nursing student at the University of Michigan. As Graham Linehan states in his X post about it, the clip is “pretty extraordinary.” Gender zealots don’t often last this long in verbal exchanges about gender woo. And, as he also says, “it’s no surprise when she finally taps out where she does.”
In 2023, a man (who calls himself a “trans woman”) named Steph Richards was appointed as CEO of Endometriosis South Coast in the UK. Women were understandably upset. A month ago, he was appointed to serve as a parliamentary representative for the charity. He has since resigned, saying that doing so is “in the best interests of myself, the charity, and the vital work it does in supporting those living with endometriosis.” Good riddance. Endometriosis is an ailment that only women can have. Men (including men who call themselves women) are not capable of knowing what it feels like (and, having had it, I can say that it is really no fun at all).
The UK TERFs and allies have spent the past couple of days celebrating the one-year anniversary of the UK Supreme Court’s 2025 ruling that sex is real and material under the 2010 Equality Act, and demanding that the government actually enforce that ruling. Here is an example.
Watch some terrific testimony by the group Women Are Real against California’s blatantly unconstitutional attempt to punish “hate speech” (we are not supposed to have the concept of “hate speech”).
Jennifer Sey has published two video ads recently put out by XX-XY Athletics, poking at soccer star Megan Rapinoe for her support for male athletes in what are meant to be female-only sports.
As regular readers know, I frequently attend an X space called American TERF Radio. The days have shifted over the years, but these days, it’s reliably on Mondays at 2:30 pm ET. It mostly consists of a bunch of disaffected Democrats like me. One of the hosts is a woman who goes by Peeja Blackbird online. She is often reminding listeners that although it’s only Republicans who hold the line on “trans,” they do not always do so.
I was reminded of this important lesson yesterday, when I read that a three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit recently ruled in support of the state of Minnesota and against female athletes. The three-judge panel consisted of one George W. Bush appointee and two Donald Trump appointees.
Off the top of my head, I can think of three women who either: (1) told me before November 8, 2024, that they planned to vote for Donald Trump; or (2) told me after November 8, 2024, that they did in fact vote for Donald Trump. All over the topic of whether some men/boys are women/girls (they are not). I understand why they did so, but I did not. I wrote in the name of a sex-realist Democrat, rather than cast a vote for either major candidate. I do not regret my decision. Read on to learn more.
