LET WOMEN SPEAK DC

Yesterday, on November 7, the group Standing for Women held an event at the Lincoln Memorial. It was called Let Women Speak.
Its purpose was to give women an opportunity to talk about basically whatever they wanted to, but most talks focused on how “gender identity” harms women and children. I previously wrote about an online threat that had been tweeted here (that post is also free and shareable).
As you can see in coverage of the event, according to Standing for Women founder Kellie-Jay Keen, its purpose was to proclaim that women don’t have penises and that “non-binary” isn’t real. Both of those statements are undeniably true.
The group had a permit to speak anywhere on the steps or the plaza of the Memorial building. I know that because I was the one who secured it. The permit application contained a question about whether I expected any groups or individuals to try to disrupt the event and I answered that question, yes, because most of the Let Women Speak events that have happened to date have been met with counter-protesters arguing that women should, in fact, not be permitted to speak. I met with the permit office and a member of the U.S. Park Police, who assured us that the Park Police would be there to protect us. They asked me to report any threats to them, and I did.
When I arrived at the event an hour before it was scheduled to start, there were no obvious threats. I found some members of the Park Police and showed them my permit. They assured me that there would be no problems.
As we started gathering at the scheduled time, it became obvious that that would not be the case. Kellie-Jay arrived with the film crew that is making a documentary about her Let Women Speak events. Then, people holding pink, blue, and white “trans” flags and chanting things like “TERFs GO HOME” approached us in order to drown us out. They had megaphones, bullhorns, and sirens. The sound was deafening. None of us could hear each other talk at all. Happily, though, we had microphones that allowed our voices to be heard via livestream and recordings of those livestreams are available for viewing.
These people really want to shut women up. There’s a reason for that. They know that if the general public can hear what we have to say, they will lose.
Let’s face it: the people protesting women’s right to speak freely are men’s rights activists (MRAs). All of “trans” or “gender identity” is a regressive, authoritarian, misogynist, homophobic movement to abolish sex. The evidence is all there, in the coverage, which I will link to below.
I called the Park Police, who sent two officers. I showed them my permit and they told me that we were well within our rights, but they didn’t take any action until things escalated. Once they saw the real threats that we were facing, they told me that they were calling for additional officers, and they did. More officers appeared, including one officer identified as SWAT.
They first told me that they would separate the MRAs from us to put some space between us, and they did. But that wasn’t enough. The MRAs kept encroaching on our space. They will stop at NOTHING to get us to shut up, and the Park Police eventually saw that. They moved the MRAs all the way across the plaza and told them to stay there.
I don’t know exactly what happened next, but something prompted the Park Police to then chase the MRAs completely out of the area. One of the MRAs was eventually arrested. As far as I know, this is the first time a law enforcement agency has actually taken action to protect women who are speaking out about the harms that “gender identity” poses to women and girls.
Ford Fischer is an independent journalist and filmmaker. He is the editor-in-chief of News2Share - a platform for raw video journalism related to political activism. He does great work and you can subscribe to his YouTube here. He was there yesterday and you can watch his complete coverage of the event here. Here is the Post Millennial on the MRAs’ use of bullhorns and megaphones. This is me in a funny tweet from Standing for Women, watching the Park Police chase the MRAs. None of this is funny, but if we are going to survive this men’s rights movement, we have to keep our wits and our sense of humor.
The Daily Signal, a conservative publication of the Heritage Foundation, was also there and published this account. According to them, one of the MRAs has been charged with Disorderly Conduct-Disrupting a Public Gathering, Resisting Arrest, 36 CFR 2.51(J) Violation of Demonstration Regulations, 36 CFR 2.32(A)(I) Interfering with Agency Function, and 36 CFR 1.5(F) Violation of Closure of Public Use Limit - all federal offenses - and this has been confirmed.
Countless hundreds of tourists saw what happened. They saw a group of women trying to speak and being silenced by misogynists.
You won’t see any coverage of any of this in legacy media outlets like NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN the New York Times, or the Washington Post for one simple reason:
I hope everyone can see what’s going on here. All we wanted to do was speak. The MRAs (a.k.a. “trans”) don’t want that to happen. We should all be asking ourselves why.
