Readers may recall that on August 7, I published an open letter in the Washington Examiner, calling on Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris to

Stand up at the Democratic National Convention and say that a woman is an adult human female and a lesbian is a female homosexual. Say that sex is real and that it matters. Say right out loud that sex is immutable and no man is ever a woman — even if he claims to be one, even if he adopts the traditional stereotypes of femininity, and even if he has his penis surgically removed. Apologize to women and girls for that utterly embarrassing letter you sent to “transgender” activist Dylan Mulvaney celebrating his “365 days of girlhood.”

I republished the letter here, on Substack.

Tennis great Martina Navratilova posted it on X (Martina, if you’re reading this, thank you!).

Well, the DNC has come and gone and, to approximately no one’s surprise, Harris did not say any of those things.

In fairness, a few hours before she gave her speech, a federal judge in Australia ruled that some men are women under Australian law if they say they are, so she’s hardly alone among people who hold important offices all over the world who can’t manage to work out what a woman is.

The case involves a man named Roxy Tickle, who sued a female-only app called Giggle (and its owner Sall Grover) because he thought he deserved admission to the app on the basis of his woman “gender identity.” The Australian Federal Court agreed with him. UK journalist Jo Bartosch published a great piece in Spiked this morning about the matter.
