Today’s FFS Friday honors Bronwyn Sims (@bbsfreedom1 on X), an athlete and gymnastics coach in Keene, New Hampshire. On July 10, she published an outstanding letter to the Keene City Council, titled, “Community, Identity, and Sanctuary” about a “proposed declaration establishing Keene as a ‘sanctuary city’ for the ‘LGBTQIA+ community.’” She quotes the Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights throughout the letter.
I respectfully suggest that “LGBTQIA+” is not a coherent community, and that protecting it does not promote fairness and respect for women and girls, including lesbians, because gender identity ideology undermines and erases sexual orientation (i.e., same-sex attraction) as well as sex itself.
In her letter, she states:
I deeply value fairness and respect for all individuals, and I believe our community thrives when everyone is treated equitably. But I respectfully suggest that “LGBTQIA+” is not a coherent community, and that protecting it does not promote fairness and respect for women and girls, including lesbians, because gender identity ideology undermines and erases sexual orientation (i.e., same-sex attraction) as well as sex itself. Lesbian groups, for instance, should have the right to meet publicly and exclude anyone who is not a lesbian, including men who claim a lesbian “identity.” Women’s groups should likewise have the right to exclude all men, regardless of their claims to be women.
Then, citing Article 7 of the Declaration, she explains that women and girls in the community have expressed concerns “regarding fairness in sports and the safety of private spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms.”
Citing Article 8, she describes a personal experience she had at the local YMCA:
After exiting the shower in the women’s locker room, I encountered a man undressing in the same space. Seeking safety and privacy, I quickly moved to a private changing area. When I inquired at the front desk, I was informed that the YMCA has a community locker room for individuals who identify outside traditional gender categories, but it was unclear why that space wasn’t required to be used in this instance.
Women and girls deserve so much more than what society offers us when it comes to protecting our dignity, privacy, and safety as a sex class. No men are women or girls, ever, even if they say so, and even if they claim to have woman or girl “gender identities.”
Women and girls who speak out about this are often punished through cancellation or worse. I’m so happy to see Bronwyn speaking out about this situation. Bronwyn, today’s FFS Friday is for you.

Thank you, Bronwyn, from the "sanctuary for ranting blue-haired biology-denying egomaniacs" city of Worcester, Massachusetts.
Yet another brilliant choice! This is such a wonderful series, Kara—and as we can see, there is an inexhaustible number of brave women to honor. 🔥 🔥 🔥
