BREAKING: Minnesota elects man to state office

This post is available to paid subscribers only. As always, thank you for your generous support, which helps me continue in the fight to protect the sex-based rights of women and girls and to stop the abolition of sex.
UPDATE: I am making this post free and shareable as of April 27, 2023, in light of the news that the man who is the subject of this post has recently proposed an amendment to state legislation removing a stipulation that prohibits “sexual attachment to children” from being classified as a protected sexual orientation, as reported by the feminist publication Reduxx. Because I am unable to moderate comments, commenting is available to paid subscribers only.
Yesterday, Fox News reported that voters in Minnesota’s District 66A voted this guy into state office.
Fox’s headline reads “Minnesota elects first transgender state lawmaker.” It’s true that the voters elected this guy into office (also note: there is nothing even a little bit remarkable about a man being elected into office). He got a full 81% of the district vote. His name is Leigh Finke.
In case anyone is still wondering if “transgender” refers to a civil rights movement for a marginalized group of people, it doesn’t. This is just a man who has pink hair and wears earrings, which, good for him. Live and let live, as they say.
This post will break down what’s interesting to me about the vote tally, plus a little bit of interesting information about who he is and what he does.
As noted in the Fox article, the district is located northeast of Minneapolis, and has a population of just over 41,000 people. It is also 52% female and 48% male, and 73% white. The median household income is $76,835.
What’s interesting to me about all of this is that while it’s true that he got 81% of the votes cast, it does not follow that 81% of the district voted for him. Fox reports that he got 15,635 votes and that his Republican opponent Trace Johnson got 3,569 votes. That means that out of 41,000 eligible voters, only around 19,000 voted. Fewer than half.
I have not been able to figure out how the district breaks down by party, but in 2020, the current Democratic incumbent won the general election by 74%, strongly suggesting that it is majority Democrat. I have learned that 64 voters wrote in alternative candidates on Tuesday. I would love to know who those write-in votes were for. Whoever they were for, they were for someone other than either the Republican or the Democrat man with pink hair and earrings.
I am inferring from all of this that a lot of Democrat voters in Minnesota’s 66A either stayed home on Tuesday or wrote in an alternative. According to some rough math, if there are 41,000 eligible voters in the district and around 75% of them are Democrats, that works out to be about 30,000 Democratic voters there. Roughly half of them did not vote for the man with the pink hair and earrings.
Here are some other images of Leigh. These are all from his IMDB page, which says this about him in his biography:
Leigh Finke is a producer, writer, and documentary filmmaker from St. Paul, Minnesota best known for White Savior: Racism in the American Church and Ending The Silence: Confronting Sexual Shame in the Church. She is the owner and Executive Producer of Totally Gay Productions. Her work focuses on trans and queer issues, religion, justice and popular culture. She is also the author of two books, Queerfully and Wonderfully Made, and Welcoming and Affirming. Learn more about Leigh and Totally Gay Productions at totallygayproductions.com.
This is how he begins his campaign site:
As a woman, I’m worried about a future without reproductive rights. That’s why I’m committed to the fight to protect abortion in Minnesota.
As anyone with eyes can see, Leigh will never need an abortion. If some Democrats voted for him out of concern for abortion rights in the U.S. in light of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, fair enough. As plenty of readers know (and plenty of them are mad at me for it), I’m a staunch supporter of abortion rights. But no one should be under the delusion that Leigh actually cares about abortion rights. He’s lying about his sex and he’s lying about his politics.
As noted in the IMDB bio, Leigh is the author of two books: Queerfully and Wonderfully Made, and Welcoming and Affirming. This all might sound lovely (Wonderfully Made! Welcoming and Affirming!), but the bio does not mention the subtitle of either book. They are, respectively, A Guide for LGBTQ+ Christian Teens and A Guide to Supporting and Working with LGBTQ+ Christian Youth. Both books are available on Amazon. These are their covers.
I hope the Democrats who voted for this guy feel good about their decision. But if I had kids attending Sunday school classes in local churches, I would get them out of there as soon as possible.
