June 22, 2024
On Wednesday June 12, I attended a meeting of the Community Education Council for New York City’s District 2 (CEC D2). Earlier this year, CEC D2 had democratically enacted Resolution 248, which called on city officials to form a committee (to include female athletes) to evaluate 2019 guidelines that allow boys to compete in girls’ sports. The purpose of the June 12 meeting was for CEC D2 to hear from members of the public and vote on Resolution 254, which would have rescinded Resolution 248. I was there with several other women (and a handful of men) to support Resolution 248. Resolution 254 failed and Resolution 248 still exists (though the city is unlikely to form the requested committee).
That meeting was absolutely insane. Here’s how the New York Post described it:
This article is from the Daily Mail about the same meeting:
The Daily Mail article points to a short video of the humming and howling I had posted on X during the meeting. In it, I referred to the hummers and howlers as the “cult of trans.”
This past Thursday, New York’s Panel on Educational Policy (PEP) held a meeting to consider two different resolutions:
RESOLUTION to protect all students of New York City Public Schools; and
RESOLUTION to affirm and protect transgender students in New York City Public Schools.
A recording of the June 20 PEP meeting is available online.
Women from Women’s Declaration International USA (WDI USA), among others, were there to explain the importance of female-only sports. A teacher in the school district testified in tepid support of the first resolution and in strident support of the second. I watched the meeting via livestream and found her speeches to be disturbing at best.
The “authoritarian trans activists” who were “humming and howling” at the June 12 CEC D2 meeting I attended and the teacher who spoke at the June 20 PEP meeting had one thing in common: they were overwhelmingly women.
It isn’t new to point out that a lot of women are carrying water for the “gender identity” industry. But in the ten or so years that I have been TERFing, I have never seen women go to such lengths to do so. Which forces me to ask, “what’s going with the women of the cult of trans?”
