This morning, like every Monday morning, I read A Week in the War on Women on Glinner’s Substack.
Today’s post is here:
The opening story this week is about Thomas Preston Lamb, a convicted murderer and kidnapper of women who is serving three consecutive life sentences in Kansas. He is currently housed in the Kansas women’s prison because of his woman identity, but prison officials have kept him in segregation due to multiple disciplinary problems (in the words of prison officials, being “predatory towards other residents and manipulative towards security staff”). Some of his infractions include asking a female correctional officer to admire his surgically altered genitals and questioning another about her body and sexual habits.
This story was originally reported by the feminist publication Reduxx.
Lamb calls himself Michelle. This is him:
In the past, the ACLU has filed at least one friend-of-the-court brief in support of Lamb. This is how the ACLU describes the case:
Michelle Lamb is currently in the custody of Kansas Department of Corrections, which contracts inmate medical care through Corizon. Ms. Lamb sued KDOC and Corizon, alleging that the defendants violated her Eighth Amendment rights by failing to effectively treat her gender dysphoria in accordance with current medical standards and for housing her in conditions that violate her constitutional rights. She sought an injunction from the Tenth Circuit Court directing the defendants to properly treat her condition and requested changes to the conditions of her confinement, primarily, transfer to a female-only facility. The Court denied her motion.
The ACLU has represented multiple men demanding to be housed in women’s prisons, going so far as to intervene on behalf of several male inmates in the matter of Chandler v. CDCR, which is being litigated by the Women’s Liberation Front on behalf of four female inmates. This post explores just how far the ACLU has fallen.
